Daddy Baby Blues?

Our growing concern for the mental and emotional health and well being of new mothers has sparked a widespread awareness campaign aimed at treating postpartum depression. For years, previous generations dismissed a new mother's "sadness" or depression by associating it with needing to adjust to having a new baby or missing the attention received while being pregnant.

Preparing for Twins

Joy, surprise, amazement. These are just a few of the adjectives parents use to describe their feelings when they receive the news they're carrying twins.

Although parents often start with delight, they can be quickly overwhelmed once they contemplate the extra work involved in preparing for two babies. Lynn Clary, of Portland, Ore., recalls feeling ecstatic when she first learned she was having twins. Though that never changed, she also felt trepidation over the many preparations required for the new additions to her family.

It is just as important for you to be there as it is for mom. You will need to learn the techniques to help her while she is in labor. It will also prepare you for the things you will see, and you can ask questions before you are in the delivery room.
